“Shoemaking is a demanding craft, but pointe shoemaking? Pure magic! In London, at the “Gamba Nursery,” I was captivated by the unique art of ballet shoe construction. Despite years of making street shoes, I had never tackled a pointe shoe. My mentor revealed that a pointe shoe isn’t just footwear; it’s a miracle! Inspired, I began to collect vintage pointe shoes to learn their intricate designs. Even after 50 years, retired pointe shoe makers still marvel at their creation. This book celebrates the miraculous pink satin pointe shoe.”
